The Tompkins Regional Center project consists of a new addition of approximately 7,300 square feet to be adjoined to the existing gymnasium and the replacement of the existing northwest portion of the building. Funding for the project includes $1.3 million in SPLOST funds and $1.6 million in Capital Improvement funds.
The addition includes a lobby, offices, restrooms with changing and showering areas, a multi-purpose room, kitchen, ceramics room, game room, fitness room, and weight room. The new addition is fully ADA accessible and meets or exceeds all applicable codes.
Upgrades to the existing gymnasium and site include interior/exterior painting, exterior door replacement, top coating and restriping of the parking lot, sidewalks, accessibility improvements, exterior lighting, and landscaping.
The Tompkins Regional Center project held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and officially opened to the public in May of 2017.
