Date Night Dirt – Couples Clay

Bring a buddy and get muddy! Join us for a night of fun and creativity exploring clay in a supportive environment. This night is for couples and is open to all skill levels. We will work on the wheel and see what we get! The fee includes all materials, glaze, and firing of one piece per person. Pieces will be available to pick up 2-3weeks after the class. Night is limited to 5 couples.

Whistle Workshop

Make music from mud! Join us for a clay whistle workshop where we will be designing and constructing musical instruments utilizing basic hand building techniques and simple tools. A variety of finishing techniques will be discussed and your works will be fired.

How to Handle Anything: A Handles How To

Get a grip on your handles! This workshop will be covering the basics of building strong, durable, and beautiful handles on your ceramic pieces. Workshop is limited to 10 students.

Parent and Child Clay Workshop

Surface Design Workshop: Textures and Tools

Friday, February 16, 1:00pm – 3:00pm 

Participants will explore alternative decorative techniques including the use of slip, wax resist, and ceramic decals just to name a few. A variety of finishing techniques will be discussed and your works will be fired. All skill levels are welcome.

Raku Demos & Workshops – Free & Open to Public

Instructor: Clair Buckner
Ages 17+
Friday, February 23, 1:00pm – 4:00pm

Join us for the fast fire, fun filled process called Raku! There will be pots available for glazing and firing. If you have suitable bisque ware to fire in this manner, feel free to bring it! We will explore different types of glazes and reduction materials. The glaze and firing fees are $10 for your bisque pot {under 8 inches in any direction} and $20 for studio pots. The demonstration is free and open to the public.


Mocha Diffusion and Blowing Bubbles

Friday, March 2, 1:00pm – 3:00pm

This workshop will explore multiple techniques for altering the surface of leather-hard clay. We will explore mocha diffusion, inlay and sgraffito to name a few. Leather hard slabs will be provided. No experience is required. Workshop is limited to 10 students.

Ceramics

Beginners Wheel (6 Weeks)

Tuesdays, January 16 – February 20, 9:30am – 12:30pm

This introductory class will teach you the basics of throwing clay on the potter’s wheel. Trimming and decorative techniques will be taught to give each vessel its own flair. Students will work at their own pace and receive individual attention. Class is limited to 10 students.

All Speeds Wheel – Intermediate (6 Weeks)

Ages: 17+
Tuesdays, January 16 – February 20, 6:00pm – 9:00pm

In this class you will learn how to use basic tools and technics to shape clay into functional forms on the pottery wheel. Students will work on refining their skills as they work at their own pace and receive individual attention. Class is limited to 10 students.

Raku II: Continued Class (6 Weeks)

Ages 17+
Wednesdays, January 17 – February 21, 9:30am – 12:30pm 

This ancient Japanese ceramic firing technique in which 1800° glowing red hot works are removed from the kiln and placed into a reduction chamber filled with combustibles is sure to inflame and inspire. This is an advanced techniques class focusing on alternative firing methods. We will explore traditional Raku as well as horsehair and saggar firing. Students will make their own pots to experiment on using different clay bodies. Ceramics experience is required. The glaze and firing fees are $10 for your bisque pot {under 8 inches in any direction} and $20 for studio pots.

Intro to Handbuilding (6 Weeks)

Ages: 8-12
Thursdays, January 18 – February 22, 3:30pm – 5:00pm 

This hand-building and sculpture class is open to all skill levels. This class will help develop basic skills in clay construction, glazing, and decorative techniques. Learn techniques such as pinching, coiling, and using slabs to make basic forms and will explore the use of tools, techniques, and alternative finishes, creating abstract and realistic pieces.

Kid’s Clay (6 Weeks)

Ages: 8-12
Thursdays, January 18 – February 22, 3:30pm – 5:00pm 

It is time to try your hand at the potter’s wheel! Join us in the studio for an introduction to all things clay. We will be using the wheel and hand building techniques to make fabulous functional wares! Be a maker and come clay with us!

Open Studio (6 Weeks)

Wednesdays, January 17 – February 21, 1:00pm – 4:00pm

Fridays, January 19 – February 23, 9:30am – 12:30pm 

The open studio session allows students time to practice skills learned in previous clay classes. This is not an instructional class. This 6 session studio time offers the freedom to come one or two times a week. Additional sessions can be purchased as needed. This session is open to students who have completed a ceramics class in our facility.

Metalsmithing and Jewelry

Beginners Jewelry – Intro to Metalsmithing (6 Weeks)

Instructor: Jessica Anderson
Ages: 17+
Tuesdays, January 16 – February 20, 12:00pm – 3:00pm

Join this introductory course to metalsmithing! The 6-week course will introduce basic tools and techniques used by jewelers. Students will learn basic patina, sawing, stamping, hammering, and soldering skills to create several unique pieces of wearable jewelry. Class is limited to 10 students.

Teen Jewelry Making (6 Weeks) NEW!

Instructor: Jessica Anderson
Ages: 13-17
Tuesdays, January 16 – February 20, 3:30pm – 5:00pm

This 6-week afterschool class will teach young adults of all skill levels awesome methods to create wearable works of art. Students will explore basic jewelry making techniques like wire wrapping, enameling, kumihimo, beading, and macramé. Students will complete the session with 6 pieces of jewelry art. Class is limited to 10 students.
