City Gears up for Earth Day Event in Daffin Park

SAVANNAH, GA (April 18, 2019) — The City of Savannah will once again be a major partner in the Savannah Earth Day Festival occurring Saturday, April 20 hosted by the Savannah Chatham Sustainability Coalition. Traditionally hosted in Forsyth Park, this year’s festival will be hosted in Daffin Park.

The Savannah Earth Day Festival is the City’s largest environmental outreach event of the year and one of the largest educational events in conjunction with Earth Day in Georgia.

Multiple free workshops will be provided during the event covering topics including The A to Zs on Electric Vehicles, Stormwater Stewardship Efforts in Chatham County, and Grow Your Own Food Year Round with Savannah Hydroponics and Organics. Additional activities include a music line up headlined by “The Train Wrecks,” a fashion show of dresses made out of recycled items, a comedy improv set by Odd Lot Savannah among others.

“The City of Savannah is proud to continue its strong support and sponsorship of this great community event, said, Nick Deffley, Director of the Office of Sustainability. The Savannah Earth Day Festival celebrates the beauty and value of our natural coastal surroundings and teaches each of us how to better protect these unique and valuable resources for our children and their children’s children.”
