Weave-A-Dream

WAD Investment Program Available for Innovative, Creative Youth Projects

The City of Savannah’s Cultural Affairs Weave-A-Dream Panel has issued a call for proposals for the 2017 Weave-A-Dream program. The Weave-A-Dream program invests in specific, innovative youth projects that focus on active learning.

The Cultural Affairs Weave-A-Dream Panel seeks proposals centered on hands-on projects designed for 12 to 15 year-olds. Projects should focus on technology, performing arts, building, design, preservation, entrepreneurial skills, and/or technical skill development. Projects should take place during summer months, spring-break week, weekends, and after-school hours. Projects are encouraged to actively involve young people in the project’s design, planning, and implementation. Projects should engage youth who have limited access to creative programs and reach communities encompassing all City of Savannah aldermanic districts.

Applications are reviewed by the WAD Panel who consider the project’s artistic merit, quality of design, quality of marketing strategy, and plan for assessing the project’s success.

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must have non-profit 501(c) 3 status. Organizations must be head-quartered in the City of Savannah’s corporate limits and proposed projects must be produced within the City of Savannah’s corporate limits. Individual artist applications will not be accepted. The maximum request is $2,000.

Applications must be submitted at least eight weeks prior to the start date of the project. Applications will be accepted March through October 20th of 2017 (while funds are available). Selected projects must be completed prior to December 31, 2017.
