Effective January 1, 2018 the City of Savannah will launch a new program aimed at increasing utilization of local small businesses in all areas of City procurement. The Small Business Opportunity (SBO) program will certify businesses that meet required revenue and employee thresholds as Savannah Business Enterprises (SBEs), allowing them to participate in sheltered City contracts.
The City will also establish cumulative annual participation goals to increase subcontracting opportunities for Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) certified at the state and federal level.
All M/WBE firms should notice that the City of Savannah will sunset the Minority and Woman-Owned Business (M/WBE) program and certification on December 31, 2017.
Qualifying firms are encouraged to participate in the new SBO initiative. For more information about these initiatives please contact staff at the Savannah Entrepreneurial Center at (912) 652-3582.
