Wells Park Area Revitalization

In 2014, the Savannah Development and Renewal Authority, in partnership with the City of Savannah, began a process to help the community shape the future of Wells Park and the surrounding area.

Open houses were held in November at St. Luke Baptist Church, in order for the community to come out and express its vision. The planning process is ongoing, and a master plan is anticipated to be complete by March of 2015.

At the November workshop, we asked three questions of participants:

1. Imagine it's March of 2016 - what do you see happening in and around the park?

2. What do you most wish for that the neighborhood lacks?

3. What is the simplest improvement you'd like to see for the park?
The workshop also displayed a series of park-related amenities and ideas, which participants could "vote" on with a post-it note.

The purpose of the next set of open houses is to obtain community input on a variety of potential changes to the park and to the properties immediately around it. Once we have received input on the various options, the SDRA will move forward to complete the master plan, upload that document here, and begin implementing those ideas that have broad community support.
