Atrium Artwork
The Savannah Cultural Arts Center (SCAC), built in 2019, has received multiple awards and recognition for its innovative architectural design. The Atrium of the SCAC is the entry point for staff, students, instructors, and visitors. The SCAC is the City of Savannah's hub for residents and visitors to engage with the arts.
Call for Artists - Submissions for 2022 applications is now closed
The City of Savannah Cultural Resources department seeks to enhance the building’s award-winning design while providing artists a platform to engage with our vibrant community. The Atrium Art Installation will connect both floors of the building and serve as an artistic centerpiece to the building's main entrance. The hanging, 3-D piece will be able to be viewed and enjoyed from multiple angles. Atrium art installations will display in the SCAC for one (1) year.

Submission Criteria
Submissions are accepted via online form through midnight, Sunday, May 8, 2022. Applicants must be residents of Chatham County, Georgia. Proposals from artists of all backgrounds and abilities are welcomed. Selected artist(s) will receive a $1200 honorarium for the project.

Images: up to five (5) images that accurately represent the artwork in scale, media, and color. Must include images of the front, back, side, of the proposed artwork. Schematics may also be included. Up to three (3) Images of previous artwork should be included.
PDF, jpeg, eps, and png accepted.
After a technical review by SCAC staff, submissions will be juried by the SCAC Atrium Exhibition Committee. The exhibition committee is a sub-committee of the Cultural Affairs Commission (CAC) for the City of Savannah.
All submissions will be scored on the following four (4) categories out of a total possible 100 Points.
Clarity of theme and overall concept [20 Points]
Formal and aesthetic qualities [20 Points]
Creativity and originality [25 Points]
Feasibility [35 Points]

SCAC Atrium Images and Technical Information
Artwork cannot exceed 16ft in height and 18ft in width. Artwork that weighs over 250 pounds will be assessed based on SCAC’s ability to install requiring without special equipment. Artwork must be made to hang from the ceiling of SCAC’s atrium and must arrive to SCAC fully ready to hang in the manner agreed upon by the artist(s) and SCAC staff.
The SCAC Atrium hanging grid will consist of 10 hanging points. Each hanging point will be accompanied by wire rope rated to hold approximate 184 lbs. The ends of the wire rope will be fitted with carabiner clip that will attach to the work via an eye hook/screw. In the case that the work is not fitted with eye hooks/screws, the piece may be secured by wrapping the wire physically around the work at various points as an alternative if approved by the installation team.
