The Thrive Sustainability Initiative aims to reduce City Government’s environmental footprint by using research, education, and implementation to conserve natural and financial resources in City operations.
Initiative Areas of Focus
The main focuses of the Thrive Initiative are research, education, pilot implementation and policy implementation.
Research: Measuring City resource use, identifying innovative municipal models, demonstrating compliance with adopted sustainability plans and programs.
Education: Distributing information to City staff and partners on issues of significance to City resource use.
Pilot Implementation: Small-scale, measured trials of innovative technology, techniques or policies with broader organizational implications for replication.
Policy implementation: Creation, adoption and where appropriate, enforcement of relevant organizational policies of significance to City resource use.
The guiding principles of Thrive activities are the ability of those activities to reduce natural and financial resource consumption by the City and its partners.
