[ARCHIVED] City crews respond to minor sewage spill

City of Savannah crews responded to a minor sewage spill at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, at 62 Highlands Blvd. An estimated 5700 gallons spilled before the issue was corrected at 8:05 a.m. This is classified as a minor spill under State Environmental Protection Division guidelines.

The spill was caused by a sewer force main failure at Lift Station 166. Crews excavated and repaired the sanitary sewer force main break. Spill notification markers were placed at the spill site, St. Augustine Creek at Highway 21 and at Houlian Bridge Boat Ramp.

All regulatory authorities were notified. Public notification is required per State guidelines.
