City to Name, Enhance Southside Park
SAVANNAH, GA (October 24, 2018) — The City of Savannah has made improvements to a park in the Windsor Forest neighborhood and plans to name the park after Thomas Fulton Jr.
The City will hold a sign unveiling ceremony on Friday, October 26 at 10:30 a.m. at the park which is located at the intersection of Elder Court and Northwood Road. The City is adding multiple benches to the .5 acre park.
Fulton was instrumental in the creation of the Windsor Forest Neighborhood Association and was an avid activist for tree preservation. He served on the Park and Tree Commission from 1995-2005. He was Chair of the Park and Tree Commission from 1999-2002. Fulton passed away in 2011.
City Council will vote on the naming of the park at Thursday’s City Council meeting.
The enhancements of the park aligns with the priority of Neighborhood Revitalization within the Savannah Forward strategic plan.
