City will cut ribbon to recognize completion of West Savannah Mural tomorrow

SAVANNAH (Feb. 15) – The City of Savannah will officially recognize the completion of the West Savannah Mural with an event tomorrow, Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. The mural is located at 1496 Augusta Ave. in West Savannah.

As part of the City’s Urban Tree Nursery grant project, funding was provided for neighborhood beautification in and around the three tree nursery sites. The only stipulation was that the beatification was to be directed by the neighborhood residents. The West Savannah neighborhood chose to create a mural on the site of their tree nursery, with the design inspired by quilts from former long-time resident Ms. Emma Freeman Williams. The neighborhood selected local artist Brian MacGregor’s mural design.
