Savannah Fire responds to Sunday evening house fire, connects impacted residents to emergency resources
SAVANNAH (July 17) – Sunday evening, at approximately 5:40 p.m., the Savannah Fire Department (SFD) responded to a reported structure fire at Forrest Hills Apartments off Middleground Road. As a result of damage to the apartment, three individuals have been displaced and SFD has connected those individuals to assistance through the American Red Cross. Thanks to the quick response, no residents were injured in the fire.
Firefighters arrived on scene in under three minutes. When the initial crew arrived, they encountered heavy smoke coming from the second floor of the complex. Other units also responded and assisted with the effort.
The fire was brought under control in five minutes. The fire originated in the kitchen and was isolated to that area. Personnel from SFD assisted in ventilating the structure to ensure that all fire was out.
