City’s Summer Aquatic Programs Running Through August

SAVANNAH (Aug. 16, 2023) – As originally announced in April, the City of Savannah Recreation and Leisure Services Department has extended its summer aquatic programs through August this year.

Most of the programs offered by the City are free to the public with the exception of the adult swim lessons. Typically, the programs conclude when school reenters session.

“We have seen growing interest in our summer aquatic programs,” Nick Roberts, Director of Recreation and Leisure Services, said. “By extending the programs through August, we hope more residents are able to take advantage of these classes.

“We’ve also had an unusually hot summer and are happy to be able to keep our pools open later than usual so residents can have a place to cool off during these extreme weather events.”

Of the programs offered this year, eight are new.  Open recreational swimming, which is free to the public, is open at all four pool locations through Labor Day.

Several of the programs are full or starting to fill up. Residents who are interested should reach out to the City of Savannah aquatics program at 912-667-7318 or visit www.savannahga.gov/aquatics
