Hurricane Idalia News Release #6
City Services Will Fully Reopen On Friday
SAVANNAH (Aug. 31, 2023) – The City of Savannah will return to full operations on Friday, Sept. 1, following the impact of Hurricane Idalia.
Sanitation collection services resumed today on a modified schedule. Wednesday’s collection routes began today with subsequent collections resuming on Friday.
Vegetative debris should be set out according to normal yard waste guidelines. Residents should understand that large piles require special heavy lift equipment. Thus, some waste collection will take longer to complete. Additional guidelines on debris collection will be shared in the coming days.
Power outage status can be checked through Georgia Power at outagemap.georgiapower.com.
Stormwater and Park and Tree crews are addressing all stormwater or tree-related issues today and this weekend. Residents are reminded to use caution on roadways with debris or down power lines. The City is working as quickly as possible to clear debris and downed trees.
Please remember if you come to a stoplight that is not functioning, treat it like a four-way stop.
For questions about City services or to submit a service request, residents can call 311. Service requests can also be submitted online at Savannahga.gov/311request.
City employees are encouraged to call into the City’s emergency information hotline for updates at 833-251-6020.
