City Announces New Partnerships To Combat Discriminatory Housing Practices
SAVANNAH (Nov. 15, 2023) – The City of Savannah is partnering with Slagowitz Law, LLC. and the Savannah Chatham Fair Housing Council to provide additional outreach, education, and enforcement services to help prevent and eliminate discriminatory housing practices.
The new partnership will provide for an increase in on-the-ground action in Savannah ensuring complaints are being met with proper response and citizens are not being taken advantage of by housing practices.
“We are excited about these new partnerships as we strengthen our existing services to Savannah residents,” Director of Human Services Kerri Reid said. “We encourage residents to reach out through these new resources if they feel they have been discriminated against. We are here to help.”
Slagowitz Law, a Savannah-based firm, will provide complaint intake and investigations, testing for fair housing violations and assist residents with inquiries regarding illegal housing discrimination. Investigations will be conducted for all housing discrimination complaints reported to the City of Savannah.
Savannah Chatham Fair Housing Council will work to educate residents and all community stakeholders through workshops, training sessions and community events to increase awareness and inform individuals of their rights and responsibilities under the Fair Housing Act.
A toll-free complaint hotline and complaint forms are available in English and Spanish and can be found at savannahga.gov/fairhousing or by calling 866-883-4243.
