[ARCHIVED] Great Savannah Cleanup events this Saturday

For Immediate Release
Date: April 11, 2014

The City’s Operation Clean Sweep and Keep Savannah Beautiful are joining forces this Saturday with Mercy Housing and residents of the Cuyler-Brownville and Eastside neighborhoods for cleanup and beautification projects in the latest of the Great Savannah Cleanup events.

On Saturday, April 12, from 9 a.m. until noon, the Great Savannah Cleanup will include two events:

· Cleanup and beautification efforts will kick off with the City’s Operation Clean Sweep and Mercy Housing in the Cuyler Brownville neighborhood at 9 a.m. in the 600 block of West 36th Street. This will include litter pick up, cleaning, painting and mulching tree-lawns in the areas of Charity Hospital and Heritage Apartments. Supplies will be provided by the City of Savannah.

· Keep Savannah Beautiful and the Eastside Concerned Citizens will begin their cleanup at 9 a.m. at the W.W. Law Center, 909 East Bolton St., which includes a pickup of litter and debris as well as recognizing the House of the Month.

The Great Savannah Cleanup runs through June 28 in conjunction with the Great American Cleanup. Residents can help organize cleanups in their neighborhood by calling Keep Savannah Beautiful Coordinator Nathaniel Glover at 651-1967. Keep Savannah Beautiful, an organization run by the City of Savannah, will provide supplies and collect bags if residents provide labor.
