For Immediate Release
Date: November 18, 2015
City staff at the President Street Water Reclamation Facility will host its 2nd annual open house on World Toilet Day tomorrow, Thursday, November 19. The open house will include tours of the City’s largest wastewater treatment facility, demonstrations, refreshments, give-a-ways, and a photo booth with the one and only Less Waters. The public is welcome to the open house starting at 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
World Toilet Day was designated by the United Nations to bring awareness to the millions of people who do not have access to basic sanitation in many countries around the world. Most in Savannah are very fortunate to benefit from the sanitation toilets provide, so the City’s Water and Sewer Department is taking this day as an opportunity to share how sanitation continues after we flush the toilet. Attendees will get to experience a 35 million gallon per day treatment facility and meet the skilled staff taking care of our sanitation needs every minute of every day.
This event is open to anyone, including adults, children, and groups from community centers and after school programs. To learn more or to register a group contact Laura Walker at 651.2221.
