The City of Savannah has received a Social Determinants of Health Grant from the Centers for Disease Control to develop an Accelerator Plan for the historic Water Works building located at Stiles and Gwinnett.
The Accelerator Plan will guide the restoration work and future uses of the Water Works building, with an emphasis on eliminating inequities and improving outcomes in three Social Determinants of Health as identified by the CDC:
- Food nutrition & security,
- Social connectedness, and
- Built environment.
The City is facilitating a diverse project leadership team with collaborating partners from Savannah’s Westside communities, Forsyth Farmers Market, Step Up Savannah, Coastal Georgia Indicators Coalition, Ashford Tea, Ivory Bay CDC, Bike Walk Savannah, YMCA of Coastal Georgia, St. Joseph Candler Hospitals, and Healthy Savannah.
