Road Closure Anticipated Start and Completion Dates

  • E. 57th Street and Battey Intersection: Early June to September 2025
  • Battey Street from E. 57th St. to E. 58th Street: Mid-June to Mid-August 2025.
  • E. 58th Street and Battey Intersection: Early August to Mid-August 2025.
  • Anticipated time of completion for final paving and reopening of the roadways to all traffic: September 2025.

Phase 2-2: November 2025 Updates

500 Block East 56th Street

  • Installation of Storm pipe has started this week 

600 Block East 56th Street

  • The large interference manhole is complete in Paulsen. 
  • Continue watermain work through intersection. 
  • Replace curb inlets and curb/driveway aprons. 
  • Expected to Pave 600 block and Paulsen in January 2026

300 Block East 57th Street

  • Paved and open to traffic 

200 Block East 57th Street

  • Watermain work is progressing. Expected to Pave in January 2026

Habersham Street 

  • Expected to Pave in January 2026

Battey Street & East 58thStreet Intersection 

  • Paved and open to traffic 

Battey Street between East 57th and East 58thStreets

  • Paved and open to traffic 

Phase 2-2: Updates- July 2025

500 & 600 Blocks of East 54th Street:

  • Open to traffic.
  • Final close out items being performed  (minor repairs to curbs, street, etc.).

600 Block East 56th Street:

  • Stone and gravel being installed so residents can access driveways with their vehicles
  • Anticipated to reach Paulsen & E. 56th St. by September 2025

300 Block East 57th Street:

  • Roadway anticipated to be paved and open to traffic by September 2025
  • Pressure tests are ongoing for new waterline system

200 Block East 57th Street: 

  • Improvements to begin early to mid-September 2025

Battey Street & East 58th Street:

  • 54” pipe and new waterline systems being installed
  • Roadway anticipated to be paved and reopened to traffic by September 2025

Battey Street between East 57th and East 58th Streets:

  • Roadway anticipated to be closed to traffic until September 2025.

Phase 2-3B Habersham Village and Abercorn St. Improvements [MODELING COMPLETE]

2025: Detailed design to be completed of near surface storm pipe network upstream of proposed tunnel entrance. Modeling was completed in 2023 to determine pipe sizes for 100-year design storm conveyance.

Casey South Drainage Basin Improvements: Phase 2 – Public Meeting Presentation

  • Full project completion for East 56th Street: Spring 2026.

Phase 2-3A Deep Tunnel [ASSESSMENT COMPLETE]

Late 2024: Procurement of final design expected for mile-long, 10-foot-diameter, 150-foot-deep tunnel beneath 61st Street from Habersham Village to Casey Canal. Tunnel feasibility assessment was completed in 2023. 

54th St. between Reynolds and Atlantic Ave. [PROJECT COMPLETE]

2023: Installation of 60-inch-diameter storm pipe more than triples drainage capacity of previous storm line. 

Recently completed construction on 54th St. between Reynolds and Atlantic.

Phase 2-1 and 2-2 Construction Kickoff [CONTRACT AWARDED]

March 2024: Construction to commence on 30-month project in 2 phases.

  • Phase 2-1: Installation of 60-inch pipe beneath 54th St. between Atlantic and Harmon.
  • Phases 2-2: Installation of 72-inch pipe beneath 56th and 57th streets between Abercorn and Harmon. 
  • November 2024: Construction to commence on the 600Blk of East 56th Street
