Water Resources Department to Host 'Careers in Water' Event
SAVANNAH – In celebration of Georgia Water Professionals Day, the City of Savannah’s Water Resources Department will host a free Careers in Water event on May 7 for youth, veterans, and job seekers interested in exploring a career in water services.
Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with representatives from various departments within the City’s Water Resources department, including: Storm Water Management; Water and Sewer Planning and Engineering; Water Conveyance and Distribution; Water Reclamation; Water Supply and Treatment; Utility Billing; Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) Inspectors. The event is an opportunity for job seekers to gain insight into the wide range of careers that help sustain Savannah’s water systems—from engineering and operations to environmental compliance and customer service.
Established in 2015 through Senate Bill 119, at the request of the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP), Water Professionals Appreciation Day is officially recognized in Georgia law.
