Car Fire Damages Home, Displaces Three
SAVANNAH, GA (Wednesday, March 3, 2021) – At 2:15 p.m., Wednesday, March 3, the Savannah Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire in the 900 Block of West 41st Street. Engine 6 was first on scene. Firefighters discovered a fully engulfed car in the carport. The flames extended to the roof of the home and damaged portions of the interior. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, preventing the fire from spreading throughout the house. No one was physically injured, but three people were displaced. Firefighters found the residents’ pet cat hiding in a closet. It was not harmed.
Remember, in the event of a house fire, get low to avoid smoke inhalation. Yell, fire to alert others. Get out of the house and call 911. Do not go back inside for belongings or pets. Residents should know two ways out of every room and practice plans for escaping a fire each month.
