Tropical Storm Imelda News Release #4

City returns to normal operations

SAVANNAH – All City of Savannah services and facilities are operating as normal today, Monday, Sept. 29, following an elevated emergency response status over the weekend due to forecasted impacts from Tropical Storm Imelda.

According to the latest forecast from the National Hurricane Center (NHC), Tropical Storm Imelda will remain well offshore as it passes by Coastal Georgia. The latest track indicates a decreasing potential for most impacts.

A High Surf Advisory is in effect from 8 p.m. on Monday through 8 a.m. on Saturday with hazardous swimming conditions expected and possible beach erosion during high tide.

Over the weekend, the City of Savannah distributed over 900 sandbags, accelerated the clearing of dozens of storm drains, canals, and pipe networks, and continuously released information to keep our community aware, prepared, and informed.

Savannah residents and businesses are encouraged to remain vigilant and prepared as we continue through hurricane season. The latest information from the City can be found at savannahga.gov/hurricane.

For questions about City services or to submit a service request, residents can call 311.
