 TRAFFIC ALERT: 

Southbound Lanes on Abercorn Reopened

 

SAVANNAH – All southbound lanes on Abercorn Street between 52nd and 54th Streets have been reopened following permanent repairs to correct the area of roadway failure that occurred on Friday, March 29. 

The cause of the roadway failure was determined to be a damaged stormwater pipe which was completely repaired this week along with another lateral pipe that also showed damage. 

From March 29:

All southbound lanes on Abercorn Street between 52nd and 54th Streets have been reopened following temporary repairs to correct the area of roadway failure that occurred earlier today. 

The cause of the roadway failure has been determined to be a damaged stormwater pipe. Permanent repairs will take place beginning on Tuesday, April 2, and will necessitate southbound lanes again be closed and all traffic detoured at 52nd St. 

Repairs are expected to take a few days. There will be no impact to northbound lanes of Abercorn.  City staff will provide updates to the public as they become available. 

From earlier:

All southbound lanes on Abercorn Street between 52nd and 54th Streets are closed until further notice due to a roadway failure. All traffic will be detoured at 52nd St. The northbound lanes of Abercorn remain open. 

City staff are currently assessing the situation and will provide an update to the public when available.
