The Department of Cultural Resources is seeking Chatham County residents with deep experience of disability to serve on an advisory panel. This is a grant-funded opportunity that will run through May 2025.
Purpose of the panel: To advise Cultural Resources as to how it can better welcome, engage, and serve people with disabilities.
Panelist activities:
1. Panelists are expected to take one class at the Cultural Arts Center, in either visual or performing arts, class fees and supplies will be paid for by the grant. (Panelists are welcome to take more than one class, however class fees and supplies are only available for one class per panelist).
2. Panelists are expected to attend at least three events at the Cultural Arts Center, these can be performances, special events, artist talks, etc.
3. Panelists will meet monthly as a group to discuss issues related to accessibility and address specific questions and concerns that the staff poses. Meeting day and time TBD, meetings may be conducted virtually.
4. Panelists will meet with Cultural Resources staff to provide specific recommendations regarding accessibility, and how to achieve the department's goal of welcoming, engaging, and serving more people with disabilities in our programs and events.
Term of Service: January-May 2025
Honorarium: A one-time honorarium will be awarded to each panelist at the conclusion of the term.
