In early September, the City of Savannah's Recreation and Leisure Services Department will start work on the new Daffin Park Signature Playground.
Construction of the new Daffin Park Signature Playground is tentatively scheduled to begin the second week of September and is estimated to last four months. The new playground is a capstone project of the Recreation Re-Imagined Initiative and is one the largest single investments made under the initiative to date.
Situated in the northwest corner of Daffin Park, the new playground will serve ages 2-12, be fully ADA compliant, and include a new restroom and new splashpad. The new playground area will include seven unique zones: a splish-n-splash zone, twist-n-turn zone, bump-n-jump zone, story time zone, swing-n-things zone, and the mega zone. The mega zone will include two large climbing units, multiple activity stations, slides, inground whirl, seesaw, shade cover, and more.
In 2021, City Council approved the Recreation Reimagined initiative to create and expand high-quality recreation facilities and experiences for residents. Since then, the City has invested more than $4 million in recreation infrastructure upgrades citywide.
