City offices to close at 1 p.m. today due to anticipated severe weather
SAVANNAH (March 18) – Chatham County has decided to suspend their services due to the weather forecast. In the interest of emergency management cooperation, the City of Savannah will suspend all non-essential services and close the following city offices at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 18, 2021:
- City Hall
- Savannah Morning News Building
- Coastal Georgia Center
- Entrepreneurial Center
- Parking Services administrative office
- Development Services
- Recreation and Leisure Services administration office
- Community Centers
- 311
Additionally, sanitation services will be suspended at 1 p.m. to allow teams to be off the roads when severe weather begins. Sanitation operations will resume Friday, wherever left off today. Please note they were already operating on a modified schedule this week, so scheduled collection could run as much as a day and a half later than usual. They expect to complete all collections by the end of the day on Saturday, March 20. All other critical workforce personnel will be sheltered no later than 2 p.m.
