Requirements to be permitted to drive a Pedicab:

  • 16 years of age or older.
  • Each application for a pedicab driver’s permit shall be accompanied by a background check issued by a local police department or police division from the applicants local police department certifying that the applicant is not on probation, parole, convicted of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating beverages or drugs two or more times within one year prior to the date of the application for such permit or who has been convicted of the offense three or more times within five years prior to the date of the application for the permit. Nor shall a permit be issued to any person who has within three years prior to the date of the application for such permit been convicted of any crime related to transporting persons for immoral purposes or has within three years prior to the date of the application for such permit been convicted of a felony. An applicant with less than 6 months residency, shall submit a background check from the local police division of the City/State of said residency. 
  • Any person applying for a pedicab driver’s permit under this article must provide a current motor vehicle operator’s license issued or approved by the State of Georgia, or any other U.S. state. An applicant must provide a seven year motor vehicle report from the state issuing the applicant’s driver’s license. The Mobility and Parking Services Director or designee shall accept an unofficial electronic copy of motor vehicle record from the issuing state on a temporary basis until a certified copy is received. The state-issued certified copy of motor vehicle record must be presented to the Mobility and Parking Services Director or designee within 30 days of submitting an application. No third party motor vehicle record shall be accepted. The motor vehicle record must be dated within 90 days of the application date. A three year motor vehicle record shall be sufficient for a valid permit renewal.

Minimum requirements to be permitted to operate a pedicab also include:

o    Must provide a current State driver’s license

o    Must provide a 7 years Motor Vehicle Report

o    Criminal/Background check required from Police Department, fee may apply

To renew a permit, the following is required:

  • 3 year Motor Vehicle Report
  • $25 Pedicab driver’s permit fee
  • Criminal/Background check required from Police Department, fee may apply

Pedicab permits expire one year from the date of issue.
