Supplier Registration

 Registration Requirements

To register as a supplier with the City of Savannah, you will need the following information:

  • Legal business name registered with IRS
  • Tax ID number, do not include dashes
  • Mailing and remit to addresses
  • Contact information
  • Your email address
  • Commodity codes (codes describing your products and services)

The City requires that you provide a taxpayer identification number to register in the supplier database. Your taxpayer ID is the number you use when filing tax returns under the name of your business. It may be either an employee identification number (EIN) issued by the IRS or your Social Security number. If you do not wish to provide your SSN, you may get an EIN from the IRS. For more information on obtaining an EIN, visit the IRS website. Please, do not enter dashes when entering this information.

Commodity Codes

The City uses the NIGP (National Institute of Governmental Purchasing) to identify the products and services provided by its vendors. Codes that begin with 0 to 8 represent goods and commodities; codes beginning with a 9 represent services.
