Savannah Cultural Arts Center Art Camps
What a great 2023 summer! Summer break is a lot more creative with arts camps! In 2023 we offered a variety of exciting weeks for rising 1st - 12th graders, from creative writing to metals and jewelry, 3D art, a Whodunit-themed theater camp, and more!
Camp Schedule
Due to the summer holidays, camps ran slightly different in 2023, with half day teen, high school, and specialty camps happening on the shorter holiday weeks. Classic, full-day arts camps for 1st - 6th graders ran every other week (even camp weeks).

2023 Camp Sessions
Week 1: June 5-9, 2023 - Registration Closed
Art Camp for Youth who are Blind or Visually Impaired Rising 1st-8th Graders
| 9:30am-2:30pm $95 $75 - City of Savannah Resident Rate | This camp offers youth who are blind or visually impaired an opportunity to experience visual and performing arts in activities specially designed for their needs. Projects will include ceramics, sculpture, tactile art making, music and movement, theatre and more! | |
Teen: Metals & Jewelry Small Structures Rising 7th-12th Graders
| 1:00-4:00pm $65 $55 - City of Savannah Resident Rate | Got a thing for building? Join us in our small structures class to engineer yourself a metal sculpture, box, or intricate wearable piece. We’ll be investigating patterns, exploring simple mechanisms such as hinges and springs, developing metalsmithing skills and then putting it all together into your personalized designs. | |
High School: Creative Writing & Performance Rising 9th-12th Graders *Closed* | 1:00-4:00pm $60 $50 - City of Savannah Resident Rate | Everything in the world has a story and those stories run the world. In this specialty camp, we will explore fun and creative ways of telling new and ancient stories with our own personal twist. Get ready to grab your favorite writing utensil and activate your imagination as we work together to create skits, short stories, spoken word, songs, and more. |

Performing Arts Camp: Video Game Adventure Camp Rising 1st-6th Graders *Closed | 9:00am-3:00pm $120 $100 - City of Savannah Resident Rate | Campers will engage in performance activities based on some of their favorite video game characters and worlds. Anything is a possibility from Mario to Minecraft! Camp projects are cumulative, so campers are encouraged to attend the entire week. |
Visual Arts Camp: 2D Art Week Rising 1st-6th Graders *Closed | 9:00am-3:00pm $120 $100 - City of Savannah Resident Rate | Campers will explore 2-dimensional art forms by creating drawings, paintings, and ceramic tiles and reliefs. Camp projects are cumulative, so campers are encouraged to attend the entire week. |

Performing Arts Camp: Elements Camp Rising 1st-6th Graders *Closed* | 9:00am-3:00pm $120 $100 - City of Savannah Resident Rate | Elements Performing Arts Camp Week is inspired by the animated show, Avatar: The Last Airbender. In this series, there are characters with the ability to control one of the four natural elements: fire, water, earth, and air. The avatar is the only person who can control all four of them in order to help maintain balance in the world. Each day, we will be using these elements to explore different performing arts, such as dance, theatre, music, and martial arts. The final day of camp will showcase how we can highlight these elements and artforms separately, as well as how they can be combined to work together. Visual Arts Camp: 3D Art Week Rising 1st-6th Graders *Closed* | 9:00am-3:00pm $120 $100 - City of Savannah Resident Rate | Art takes on a 3rd dimension as campers create ceramic mugs and pots, mixed-media sculptures with materials like pipe-cleaner, styrofoam, and aluminum foil and get things moving with kinetic art. |

Adult Art Boot Camp Ages 17+ (Out of High School) *Closed* | 9:00-12:00pm $47 $38 - City of Savannah Resident Rate | Have you always wanted to take an art class, but were unsure of which medium to pursue? In the Adult Art Intensive, you will try your hand at multiple art forms and mediums. By the time you leave you will have completed a ceramics piece, a small watercolor painting, and a plaster sculpture. Get ready for three mornings of intensive creativity! All materials included. |
Teen: Dance Composition Camp Rising 7th-12th Graders | 9:00am-12:00pm $36 $30 - City of Savannah Resident Rate | Come and express yourself through music and movement! Dance Composition Camp, is for teens who want to learn about various choreographic tools that can be used to create dance pieces. Different styles of dance, such as Jazz, Modern, and Hip-Hop will be incorporated throughout the week. Dance composition utilizes the elements of dance, movement manipulations, improvisation, and creativity to structure choreography. We will explore these components while developing our own pieces and choreographic processes. Register |
Teen Comedic Acting Camp Rising 9th-12th Graders | 1:00-300pm $36 $30 - City of Savannah Resident Rate | While many acting classes focus on the dramatic, this class will explore the world of comedic acting. Each day you will discover a new comedic technique that will allow you to become more comfortable in life and on stage by tapping into your own sense of humor. Register |
Teen: Portfolio Development Rising 7th-12th Graders *Waitlist* | 1:00-4:00pm $36 $30 - City of Savannah Resident Rate | This camp is designed for teens who are interested in pursuing art studies in high school or college. Teen Portfolio Development will give you an understanding of how to create a strong portfolio, a key factor in getting into the art program, school, or college of your choice. Students at any stage of portfolio development are welcome: if you have no portfolio this camp will get you on the path, if you have a portfolio TPD will help you refine and strengthen it. Through art activities, exercises, group discussion and critiques, TPD will give you an understanding of how to conceptualize and organize your portfolio so you can show your talent to best advantage. Teen: Metals & Jewelry Enameling Basics Rising 7th-12th Graders *Waitlist | 1:00-4:00pm $46 $40 - City of Savannah Resident Rate | Enamel is a wonderful way to work with color. This ancient art of melting finely ground glass onto copper can be wildly spontaneous or intentionally planned out. It all depends on you! Performing Arts Camp: Whodunit! Rising 1st-6th Graders *Waitlist Grades 1-6 | 9:00am-3:00pm $120 $100 - City of Savannah Resident Rate | Campers will develop communication, collaboration, performance, and acting skills as they collect clues, examine evidence, and follow the trail to the truth. There will be strange events, suspicious suspects, and brilliant detectives. This mystery camp is sure to keep campers guessing! |
Visual Arts Camp: 2D and 3D Art Rising 1st-6th Graders *Waitlist Grades 1-6 | 9:00am-3:00pm $120 $100 - City of Savannah Resident Rate | Campers will spend the week expanding their creativity while learning how to merge 2D and 3D art mediums by exploring techniques such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and collage. Camp projects are cumulative, so campers are encouraged to attend the entire week. Each week will bring new themes and projects for campers while covering similar disciplines. |
Savannah Cultural Arts Center
All classes take place at the Savannah Cultural Arts Center at 201 Montgomery St. Campers will be dropped off and picked up on Turner Blvd. There is an accessible drop-off area on Montgomery St. For teen campers, limited (paid) street parking is available near the SCAC. The closest parking garages are Liberty Parking Garage on Liberty and Montgomery and Robinson Parking Garage on Montgomery St. across from Chatham County Courthouse.
Camp Pricing
City of Savannah residents enjoy a reduction of the base camp rate. To qualify, home of record must be listed within the City of Savannah corporate limits. Further reduced pricing is available for:
- City of Savannah Residents with qualifying SCCPSS Free of Reduced Lunch form, TANF, SNAP, or qualifying income tax statement. Please review the application and required documentation here. (This form can be submitted at any time prior to camp registration and before registration opens).
- City of Savannah Employees. Employees and their immediate household family members receive a reduction in SCAC programming. Please include employee name and number on the registration form.
How to Register
Fill out the online application here and you will be contacted by staff at the Savannah Cultural Arts Center for payment.

Non-residents: Registrations for non-City of Savannah resident students will be placed on a waitlist, in the order they were received, until camp registration opens for all May 22. On this date non-residents will be contacted about camp availability.
Camp registrations will be accepted on a first- come/first-served basis for each week of camp. Registration is not complete and spots not reserved until payment is received.
Camp Fees must be paid by 12:00 noon on the Friday before camp begins. NO CASH is accepted. Checks and credit cards are accepted. Make checks payable to: City of Savannah.
