Contract Instructor - Youth and Adult Dance

The Otis S. Johnson Cultural Arts Center, located in downtown Savannah, seeks qualified dance teachers for youth and adult classes in all genres. The next class term begins in early January 2026, classes are offered Monday-Friday 10:00am-9:00pm and Saturday from 12:00-4:00pm.  Teaching artists are hired on a contract basis only and paid $25.00 per class hour plus $25.00 per class for preparation (choreography, development of instructional support materials, student follow-ups, etc.)

Applicants should have at least 2 years of experience teaching dance. To apply, please complete the performing arts application form and return it with your resume to Jenna Ward, Program Manager, at jward01@savannahga.gov. Please include a portfolio or link to your website if applicable.

General Call for Event Technicians

The Otis S. Johnson Cultural Arts Center is looking to build its roster of event technicians to support dance, theater, music, and film events. Technicians should be comfortable operating lighting, audio, and video equipment for live performances under supervision. Technicians are hired on a project basis only. Hourly rate is $25 per hour. The Cultural Arts Center is located in downtown Savannah; free parking is provided to technicians.

General Call for Instructors

Looking to share your love of the arts with the community? The Otis S. Johnson Cultural Arts Center is looking to build its roster of qualified instructors to lead creative classes and workshop sessions. We are seeking contract teachers for a wide range of subjects in visual and performing arts - beginning and advanced, adult and youth. Past and current classes have included jewelry, ceramics, drawing, dancing, improv, songwriting, and SO much more.  The Cultural Arts Center is located in downtown Savannah, free parking is provided to instructors.

We are currently looking for teaching artists for acrylic painting and belly dancing classes.

Interested individuals should submit along with their application: a resume and up to five portfolio images (in digital format). Previous experience in art instruction is required. This is a per-activity contractual service; not a City of Savannah employment position.
