City Offices to Close Friday, Monday in Observance of Holiday
Offices Will Also Be Closed Monday, Jan. 1
SAVANNAH (Dec. 19, 2023) – City of Savannah administrative offices and facilities will be closed Friday, Dec. 22 and Monday, Dec. 25 in observance of the Christmas holiday and again on January 1, 2024, in observance of New Year’s Day. Emergency services will remain open.
Sanitation services will be impacted by the holiday closures. Residents can expect the following changes to their schedule:
Residential garbage collection and yard waste collection services will not run on Monday, Dec. 25. Collection services will resume on Tuesday, Dec. 26 and proceed on a delayed schedule. Collection services will not run on Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, but will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 2 on a delayed schedule.
Recycling services will not run on Monday, Dec. 25 or Monday, Jan. 1. Recycling services will resume on Thursday, Dec. 28 running Wednesday’s collection route and on Friday, Dec. 29 running Thursday’s collection route. For the New Year’s Day holiday, recycling collection will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 2 running Monday’s route and Wednesday, Jan. 3 running Tuesday’s route.
The Dean Forest Landfill and Bacon Park Transfer Station will both be closed on Friday, Dec. 22. Dean Forest Landfill will reopen on Saturday, Dec. 23 on a regular schedule. Bacon Park Transfer Station, which is always closed on Monday and Tuesday, will reopen on Wednesday, Dec. 27. Both stations will be closed on Monday, Dec. 25 and Monday, Jan. 1. Dean Forest Landfill will reopen on Jan. 2 and Bacon Park Transfer Station will reopen on Jan. 3.
Street sweeping services will also be delayed one day, picking up routes on Tuesday, Dec. 26 and Tuesday, Jan. 2.
Residents are encouraged to consult the sanitation schedule packets disseminated each year and make note of what day sanitation collection will happen on their route. You can find the schedule at savannahga.gov/sanitation.
