[ARCHIVED] City launches new webpage on proposed Community Redevelopment Tax Incentive ordinance

For Immediate Release
Date: February 8, 2016

The City of Savannah published a new web feature today on the proposed Community Redevelopment Tax Incentive ordinance. Located at www.savannahga.gov/blightordinance, the webpage offers background on the proposed ordinance and answers to the most commonly asked questions about the ordinance. Residents can also submit questions and comments through the site.

The proposed ordinance creates a process for declaring properties maintained in a chronically blighted condition, and establishes a mechanism to tax those properties at a higher rate until they are brought into compliance. The ordinance will have its second reading at the February 18 City Council Meeting.
