Holiday spirit will once again be returning to downtown Savannah, as City Council approved an agreement at today’s regular Council meeting for the installation and lighting of Savannah’s holiday tree.
The tree will be placed on Bull Street just north of Broughton Street from Tuesday, November 21, 2017 through Wednesday, January 3, 2018. The tree lighting event is scheduled for Friday, November 24, with holiday activities scheduled on Saturday, November 25.
The tree will complement additional holiday decorating activities to include the installation of:
- Garland and red bows on the lamp posts on Broughton Street from Montgomery Street to Lincoln Street;
- Festoon lighting above Broughton Street from Barnard Street to Abercorn Street;
- A suspended and lit holiday wreath on the front of City Hall;
- Red bows with gold trim on the lamp posts along the north side of Bay Street and Rousakis Plaza;
- Garland and red bows on the lamp posts in Ellis Square;
- A holiday display under the Hyatt Hotel along River Street; and
- Garland and red bows in the residential squares throughout downtown.
