State Designates Savannah as IT Corridor
SAVANNAH, GA (February 1, 2018) — The City of Savannah’s Mayor and Council voted today to adopt a resolution supporting a designation that names Savannah as an Information Technology Corridor.
In December 2017, the Senate Information Technology Corridors Study Committee published a report that a program be developed in Savannah focused on “logistics technology innovation” to further develop the area’s growing ports-related economy.
Technology Corridors have been used by other states to provide funds and incentives to allow for better marketing of areas naturally leading their sectors, and to focus funding on corridor-related infrastructure, as well as educational and workforce development initiatives.
