‘Philharmonic in the Streetz’ Coming to Savannah Shines Neighborhood
SAVANNAH, GA (May 15, 2018) — The City of Savannah has partnered with the Savannah Philharmonic and the Edgemere/Sackville Neighborhood Association to host Philharmonic in the Streetz in the City’s Savannah Shines neighborhood.
Last summer the Edgemere/Sackville neighborhood was selected as the inaugural Savannah Shines neighborhood. The Savannah Shines initiative unites a strong neighborhood association with city staff and private partners to improve neighborhoods and reduce blight.
Philharmonic in the Streetz will celebrate the community and is open to the public. The event will feature Philharmonic musicians performing on an outdoor stage. Live performances will include Ricardo Ochoa and Friends, Laiken Love and the Fellowship of Love, and students from Myers Middle School. The event will also include entertainment for children, food and free ice cream.
“Our organization is proud to produce and present this growing community-focused event. It is an opportunity to, share our music with new audiences, build camaraderie and highlight neighborhood students who participate in our education programs,” said Savannah Philharmonic Executive Director Terri O’Neil. “It’s very fulfilling to build new friendships and music enthusiasts. Music really does bring people together!”
