Space Still Available in Youth Summer Programs

SAVANNAH, GA (May 22, 2018) — The City of Savannah’s Youth Summer Programs begin next week and there is still space available. This summer the City’s Parks and Recreation Department is offering activities in the arts, team sports, cheerleading and swimming.

The City will hold Summer Camps at 14 different community centers in two four-week sessions. The first session runs from May 29 to June 22. The second session will run June 25 to July 20. The cost for each session is $105 for non-residents and discounted to $65 dollars for City residents.

From May 29 to July 20, City staff will be supervising 27 playgrounds throughout the City. Constructive activities such as arts & crafts, team sports, board games and other outdoor activities will be available to the youth. These activities are free to the public. On July 10, the City will hold the annual Playground Olympics in Daffin Park. All supervised playground locations will meet at Daffin Park for a morning of field day activities followed by a tug of war against City staff.

Summer Drop in Art is another free program offered by the City from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at various summer camp facilities. The program is open to all youth in the public but space is limited to 15 youth per classroom.

A picnic style lunch free lunch will be offered to any youth 18-years-old or younger who are participating in summer programs from May 29 to July 20.

For more information on any of these programs visit http://www.savannahga.gov/SummerPrograms or call Parks and Recreation Services at (912) 351-3841.
