For Immediate Release
Date: May 10, 2013
Over 500 teenagers have registered for Monday’s Youth Summit 2013, where Savannah’s youth will help take control of their future.
The event will be from 5-9 p.m. Monday, May 13, at the Savannah Civic Center Arena. Local youth between the ages of 11 and 20 will meet in small facilitated groups scattered throughout the Arena. Those group discussions will identify specific challenges and needs of Chatham County youth, which will be presented on stage by youth representatives later during the evening.
Ultimately, the information gathered at the event will be incorporated into a strategic action plan for local youth issues.
Students who attend and participate in the summit will receive community service hours. Parents are not required to attend with their children, but those that do will participate in a special parents’ forum held concurrently.
A total of 645 teens and adults registered for the conference through the City’s website before registration closed at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
