Public Invited to Provide Input on Alcohol Ordinances
SAVANNAH, GA (June 17, 2019) — The City of Savannah will hold two public meetings on Wednesday, June 19 & June 26 at 6:00 p.m. at the Liberty City Community Center located at 1401 Mills B. Lane Blvd. to discuss Alcohol Density Overlay District Ordinance and the desire to establish a fourth overlay district in the 5th District.
The Alcohol Density Overlay District was created to address the concentration of establishments engaging in the sale and or service of alcohol in specific identifiable areas that have contributed to undesirable conditions and activity like littering, loitering, aggressive panhandling, noise and increased vehicular traffic. Through the establishment of an alcohol overlay, standards are created to prevent these and other detrimental actions from diminishing property values and the quality of life for nearby residents and property owners.
