[ARCHIVED] Rock 'n Roll Marathon to impact parking, traffic

On Saturday, Nov. 9 the Rock 'n Roll Marathon will make its third trip through Savannah. The event is expected to bring thousands of runners and spectators to the downtown area and surrounding neighborhoods along the route.

Residents and visitors can find information about the route on the official marathon site, runrocknroll.competitor.com/savannah/course. Road closures can be found online as well, runrocknroll.competitor.com/savannah/road-closures.

Visitor Day Passes, Residential Decals
Visitor Day Pass (VDP) sales will be temporarily suspended Wednesday, November 6th through Saturday, November 9th. During this time VDP’s will not be valid in any City owned parking garage/lot.

Also, vehicles displaying a residential decal will not be permitted to park in the City owned garages effective Friday, November 8th. Vehicles must be removed by 5:00pm. If your vehicle is not removed from the garage by the above time, it will be towed at the owner’s expense. Residents may return to the garage Sunday, November 10th. If you have any questions about the passes or parking in City-owned lots or garages, please call Mobility and Parking Services at (912) 651-6477.

Downtown street sweeping
In order to better accommodate the parking needs of residents and visitors in town for the Rock ‘n Roll Marathon, the City of Savannah will not issue street sweeping citations in the downtown area on Friday, Nov. 8 and Saturday, Nov. 9. Cars must still be parked in legal spaces to avoid being towed. Drivers should take care to avoid blocking fire hydrants and driveways in the area. The street sweeping parking enforcement schedule will return to normal after Saturday.
