[ARCHIVED] Newly developed two acre section of Greenwich Cemetery dedication

For Immediate Release
Date: February 3, 2014

District 3 Alderman John Hall and members of City Council will join City Cemeteries staff at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 4, for a dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony for a newly developed two-acre section of Greenwich Cemetery.

Greenwich Cemetery is the newest of the City’s municipal cemeteries and is situated on the site of the historically significant Greenwich Plantation. The manicured gardens full of ancient statuary, exotic plant specimens and elegant white marble fountain, was once considered the most magnificent, privately-owned estate in the entire South. The 65-acre cemetery was established in 1933 as the Greenwich Addition to Bonaventure.
