[ARCHIVED] City and Keep Savannah Beautiful honor volunteers

For Immediate Release
Date: March 5, 2014

City of Savannah Mayor Edna Jackson and Alderman Carolyn Bell joined Keep Savannah Beautiful (KSB) Board members, under the leadership of Chairman Jessica Pedigo, on Tuesday night to recognize the hundreds of volunteers who donated their time to pick up litter and keep Savannah looking beautiful throughout 2013.

Thirty-four organizations were honored for their volunteer efforts in KSB’s Adopt-A-Street program, a litter control program sponsored by the City of Savannah and Keep Savannah Beautiful, created to attract public involvement in picking up litter along City thoroughfares.

Keep Savannah Beautiful and the City of Savannah are currently organizing Great Savannah Cleanup events across the City through June 30. During the Great Savannah Cleanup, residents and businesses throughout Savannah are encouraged to help organize their own neighborhood cleanups. If residents provide labor, the City will provide bags and gloves, then collect and dispose of the bags of trash.

To organize a neighborhood cleanup, contact Keep Savannah Beautiful Coordinator Nathaniel Glover at 651-1967.
