[ARCHIVED] Parking challenges expected Saturday morning

The City of Savannah advises those driving downtown Saturday morning of two events which may cause parking and traffic challenges.

The 10K portion of the Savannah River Bridge Run begins at 9 a.m., finishing along the Montgomery Street side of the Savannah Civic Center. About 6,000 runners are expected.

The Disney on Ice performance begins at 11 a.m. at the Civic Center, with doors opening at 10 a.m. Audience is expected at roughly 3,000 people.

While many of the runners will have left the area prior to the beginning of the Disney performance, there will be overlap, and parking and traffic could be challenging. Montgomery Street west of the Civic Center will also be closed to traffic.

Motorists should plan accordingly, and may have to park several blocks away from the Civic Center. Those driving to Disney on Ice should give themselves time to find a space.
