For Immediate Release
Date: August 4, 2014
The public is invited to attend the grand opening of the redevelopment of Savannah’s first public marina this Friday on Coffee Bluff.
The Coffee Bluff Marina Ribbon Cutting and Dedication Ceremony will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at the Marina at 14915 Coffee Bluff Road.
The Marina has undergone a complete transformation, including construction of a new boat hoist, a fishing pier, expanded floating docks, a children’s playground and picnic shelter, kayak launch, new marina store and parking area improvements. The $4 million project came after the City purchased the property in 2008 when the marina’s owner began moving forward with a residential development plan that would have limited public access to the Forest River. The City worked with residents to build a facility that met the needs of the community.
At Friday’s event, citizens can enjoy hotdogs and refreshments while touring the upgraded facilities with City officials, including Mayor Edna Branch Jackson, 6th District Alderman Tony Thomas, and other members of City Council.
