For Immediate Release
Date: November 10, 2014
The City of Savannah is hosting an open house at the President Street Water Reclamation Facility on Wednesday, November 19 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The open house will include tours of the City’s largest wastewater treatment facility, demonstrations, refreshments, giveaways, and a photobooth with water conservation mascot Less Waters.
November 19 is also World Toilet Day, designated by the United Nations to raise awareness about the millions of people who do not have access to basic sanitation around the world. The City’s Water and Sewer Department is taking this day as an opportunity to share with the community how sanitation continues after we flush the toilet. Attendees will get to experience a 35 million gallon per day treatment facility and meet the skilled City employees who manage Savannah’s sanitation needs around the clock.
Community groups and afterschool programs are encouraged to attend the open house, as well as the general public. To learn more or to register a group for the event, contact Laura Walker at (912) 651-2221.
