For Immediate Release
Date: February 19, 2015
The Savannah Youth Council will be lending a hand to the City’s Park and Tree Department this Saturday at 9 a.m. SYC members are volunteering to help plant trees along Harmon Street, between Waldburg and Anderson. The Savannah Tree Foundation will also be providing volunteers.
Poor quality sweet gum trees were removed from the area by Georgia Power and the City in late January. The tree were removed due to their interference with power lines in the area, requiring regular maintenance to trim back tree limbs. New crape myrtle trees will be planted in their place. The crape myrtles will require less maintenance, and create a more attractive streetscape.
