For Immediate Release
Date: April 2, 2015
This is a reminder that today's City Council Workshop will be held off-site, at the Creative Coast’s new headquarters – the Creators’ Foundry, 415 W. Boundary St. The 10 a.m. Workshop will feature an overview of the City's progress in implementing recommendations of the Mayor’s Business Roundtable, as well as a special interactive session with a group of entrepreneurs who have started up technology-related businesses in Savannah.
Targeting these startups to locate their operations in Savannah, or remain in Savannah after graduating from local colleges or universities, was one of the recommendations from the Roundtable. At the Workshop, several startups will present brief overviews of their products, and provide feedback to Council on how the City can support this growing movement. While the City is supportive of entrepreneurs of all types, there is heavy competition nationally for tech-related startups.
The City of Savannah is a major funder of the Creative Coast, whose mission is to support those engaged in creative or innovative endeavors, and cultivate an environment in which they can thrive. The Creative Coast’s new Creators’ Foundry hosts networking events and provides support and critical office space for innovators, venture capitalists and entrepreneurs.
