Gordon Denney has been selected as the Park and Tree Director for the City of Savannah. Denney has been an employee with the City of Savannah for 13 years, serving as an Architect, Administrator, where he has been responsible for the City’s Park Maintenance Program, and most recently Acting Director for the Park and Tree Department.

The Park and Tree Department maintains Savannah’s historic squares, the riverfront, neighborhood parks, medians and entranceways, and provides conservation of public monuments. The department’s urban forestry unit services roughly 9,200 trees per year, and maintain 199 acres of parks.

Denney received his Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Georgia in 2000 majoring in Landscape Architecture. He is a certified Landscape Architect and Arborist; these certifications were earned through the State of Georgia and the International Society of Arboriculture. Denney is also the recipient of the City of Savannah’s Greenie Award which recognizes employees that have made significant contributions to environmentally friendly programs or projects for the City. He is a member of Society of Landscape Architects, the Georgia Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, and the Society of Arboriculture.
