[ARCHIVED] Information sessions focused on residents looking for new careers

For Immediate Release
Date: January 15, 2013

The City of Savannah is once again teaming up with Savannah Technical College, Georgia Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to help residents get the certifications needed to land careers in Savannah.

Registration is now open for the next semester of training for technical certification of credit classes at the City’s Moses Jackson Advancement Center, 1410B Richards St., in the West Savannah neighborhood. Residents can obtain a technical certificate of credit within weeks at the MJAC in the following areas: Warehousing and Distribution, Medical Front Office Assistant, Culinary Arts and Commercial Drivers License (CDL) training.

The City will hold information sessions on these programs every Tuesday and Thursday – at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. each day – from January 22 through May 30.

Anyone interested in attending the information sessions should call first for eligibility. Those who enroll in the training will need to produce a photo identification card; proof of residency (a utility bill or statement); $20.00 for STC’s admission fee if you have never been a student of Savannah Technical College; and a copy of your official high school, GED or college transcript in a sealed envelope.

For more information about the program or eligibility requirements contact the Moses Jackson Advancement Center at 525-2166.
