Savannah Fire Responds to Empire Beauty School gas leak
SAVANNAH,
GA (Thursday, September 20, 2018) – Operations at Empire Beauty School werebriefly interrupted Thursday afternoon after a reported gas leak prompted
Savannah Fire to temporarily relocate about 40 people to a safe place. At12:10 p.m. Thursday, September 20, Savannah Fire was dispatched to the report
of a gas leak outside at 902 Eisenhower Drive. Firefighters arrived on scenewithin three minutes at 12:13 p.m. They discovered a small gas leak outside and
stood by while the gas company repaired the line. As firefighters were standingby someone inside Empire Beauty School said they thought they smelled gas.
Savannah Fire relocated about 40 people to a safe place and tested the air.Meters used to monitor hazards showed no elevated readings. The building’s
occupants were allowed to return and Savannah Fire cleared the scene just after12:40 p.m. No one was injured.
